Release Notes of 7.0.0

Release 7.0.0 is a primary release in which the EdgeOS on Virtual hardware is supported. Currently this 7.0.0 release is on Beta trial with few customers and by end of March 2024 this will be a GA release replacing 6.5.4.

• Multiple LAN Support during VM personalization via VM CLI

• Option to update interface name during Network Assignment

• Pre-select interfaces for VM configuration

Feature / Enhancements (7.0.0 build 42)

• EdgeOS on a Virtual Environment (VX) - Currently we have the image/release for KVM and can be downloaded from Service Portal. Please follow the Quick Start Guide for installation details (EdgeVX - Quick Start Guide).

  • Note: To buy the VX license, please follow the same process as buying the physical hardware. Our production team will add the appropriate VX instance in the inventory based on the service order/purchase order.

• Licensing Service Enhancement - As the new features are getting added, more license types and also service terms are introduced. With this release, the license is enforced by cloud component so that duplication / inadvertent usage of system can be tracked and blocked appropriately.

• Device Name detection based on mDNS snooping as well.

• VOIP server support - Asterisk is integrated with the EdgeOS to provide VOIP capability. Please follow the How To Guide for more instructions (Configuring VoIP Services on EdgeServer - How To Guide).
