Device Validation

Welcome to the How-to Guide for Device Validation. This comprehensive resource is designed to assist the user in ensuring that their device meets all necessary standards and requirements for optimal performance and compliance. Whether you are validating a new device or revalidating an existing one, this guide provides detailed, step-by-step instructions to help you through the entire validation process.

Device Validation is a two-part process as explained below.

Part 1: Physical Inspection

  1. Please use the following link to download the Physical Inspection checklist - Check list.xlsx

  2. Use the printed checklist to do a physical inspection of the device.

  3. Complete the check according to the checklist to make sure that the device is in optimal condition.

Part 2: User Interface

Connect the the hardware product via WAN to the internet and via LAN to a client device. Although the process specifics may vary by device, here are the general steps performed:

  1. Log in to EdgeOS portal on the device and confirm that the internal software device ID matches the scanned label.

  2. Check the EdgeOS version installed on the device against the build server. If out of date, the device should be updated before continuing.

  3. Run a client-side ethernet speed test to validate that the device download and upload speeds meet the minimum standard for the product.

  4. Check if the following Edge UI screens show data - Interfaces, Access network, Internet Status, Usage, Performance charts, Speedtest from WAN and LAN side.

  5. Check if there are no error notifications on the Edge UI.

  6. Log in to the Kognitive Cloud Portal and check if it shows the Edge device online and its telemetry data.

  7. Log in to the Konnect Application and check if it shows the Edge device online and its telemetry data.
